The ABC method consists of three things that parents would need to pay attention to in supporting for their children’s appetite. The first thing is the intake (Asupan) of adequate and nutritious food. The second thing would be vitamins (Berikan vitamin) to support children’s growth and development. Lastly, it is a regular check-up (Cek rutin) of children’s weight and hygiene. Dr. Ulul also says that according to the data of Survei Kesehatan Indonesia (Indonesia’s Health Survey) of the Ministry of Health in 2023, it is found that one out of 12 toddlers suffers from stunting, one out of four toddlers has anemia, and one out of 13 children is overweight. Therefore it is important to monitor for good appetite in younger children to form their eating habits towards an optimum growth and development and avoiding malnutrition. One of the ways to check their nutritional and growth and development status is by using the growth curve from WHO, which is currently being developed further by IDI together with Kalbe Consumer Health in the form of ABC Nutri Meter application that will be launched in Q4 of 2024.
